🔼 Playing With Passion. Boise State women’s basketball senior Dani Bayes is honoring her late father Leon through basketball after he passed away from kidney cancer in spring 2025. After losing her dad, Bayes returned to Boise early, throwing herself into the game as she processed her grief. Her journey mirrors former Bronco Jayda Clark, whose father died from the same disease in 2024.

Together, they helped establish Boise State's annual Kidney Cancer Awareness game, where a decorated seat honors each father. At this year's game on Jan. 14, Bayes dropped 15 points in a 77-40 win over Wyoming, with her mom watching from the stands. Bayes is playing with passion and purpose: "I want to win a championship."

🔼 Friday Night. Boise State gymnastics is set to host Once Upon a Meet on Friday night as the Broncos open their home season. Doors open at 6 p.m. MT with the meet getting underway at 7 p.m. MT.

🔼 Game Day. Boise State men’s basketball is set to go for its fifth-straight win tonight against Grand Canyon. Tip off from Phoenix is scheduled for 7 p.m. MT with the game set to air on FS1 and KBOI 670 AM.

🔼 All-Academic. Boise State cross country men’s and women’s teams, and seven individual athletes, landed on the USTFCCCA All-Academic list. Patrick Kiprop, Meshack Kuyo, and Alex Thompson were honored on the men’s team, while Hanna Ackermann, Bianca Boehnke, Amit Koma, and Kaiya Robertson earned recognition for the women.

🔼 Two Days. Boise State track & field will compete in Seattle over the next two days at the UW Invitational on Jan. 30 and Mile City on Jan. 31. Boise State’s distance group is set to participate in the 800 meters, 3,000 meters, 5,000 meters, and mile.

🔼 Back Home. Boise State women’s tennis is set to host three matches this weekend, with a doubleheader beginning today at 11 a.m. MT against BYU. This evening, the Broncos will take on Montana State at 6 p.m. MT. Finally, the weekend will wrap up on Sunday at 11 a.m. MT on Santa Clara. Full preview here.

🔼 More Changes. Boise State head coach Spencer Danielson announced additional changes to his coaching staff this week. Danny McDonald has been promoted to assistant quarterbacks coach, while Demitri Washington will become an assistant defensive line coach. Kenny Zamberlin has been named offensive quality control coach and Devon McPeek joined the program as a special teams analyst.
