Good Morning, Bronco Nation!
Boise State ran it down Fresno State’s throat all night, with Dylan Riley going for 150 and Sire Gaines 120 in a 38-31 win that snapped a three-game skid against the Bulldogs. Riley needed two plays to answer Fresno State’s opening touchdown, taking one 73 yards to the house, and he added a 44-yard touchdown catch to open the fourth.
Maddux Madsen threw for 238 and two scores without a pick; he’s the only Bronco quarterback to open a season with six straight interception-free starts. The dagger was a 14-play, all-run drive that bled 7:40 off the clock and set up Moore’s third field goal. Boise State is off next week before heading to Washington State on Oct. 24.

🔹 And so much more!
📈 STOCK UP
🔼 Flipping a Switch. Boise State men’s hoops shot 33 percent before the break and 68 percent after it, hanging 50 second-half points on Idaho in an 82-72 exhibition win. Julian Bowie led the way with a career-first 20-point night, finishing with 21 and burying the triple that broke a one-point game open in the final minutes. Dovydas Butka went for 18 and 10 in his Bronco debut, and Aginaldo Neto stuffed the sheet with 14 points, six rebounds, six assists, and five steals. The defense was relentless all night, forcing 22 turnovers and racking up 12 steals. Next up is Washington on Oct. 17 at 7 p.m. MT in another exhibition contest.

🔼 Never Trailed Long. Boise State jumped out 4-0 and never let Fresno State catch up, sweeping the Bulldogs for a conference-leading 10th sweep of the season. Azlynn Tittmann hammered 16 kills, her third straight match in double figures, and served back-to-back aces in a third set the Broncos ran away with, 25-12. Tehya Maeva dished 22 assists for her third consecutive 20-plus outing, Sydney Dreves added 11 kills, and Hallee Heath notched a career-high four blocks in her first start as a Bronco. Boise State out-killed Fresno State 42-30 and heads home to face Washington State on Oct. 15 at 6 p.m. MT.

🔼 Deepest Run In A Decade. Stewart Aronson and Filip Soderqvist became the first Boise State doubles pair since 2016 to reach the ITA Regional semifinals, tearing through four rounds and knocking off Utah State’s third seed 8-1 along the way before UNLV ended it. Soderqvist was busy on both fronts, going 3-1 in doubles and 3-1 in singles for the Broncos’ best singles finish at the Mountain Regional since 2024, reaching the quarterfinals before a three-set battle with Montana’s Matthew Upton. Izan Orgiles and Arsene Pougault also made the doubles quarterfinals as the two seed. Next up is the Pac-12 Conference Tournament.

🔼 On to the Next. A program-record 1,473 fans packed in for the first ranked team to visit Boise since 2012, and the Broncos gave them a second half worth the ticket: eight shots to Utah State’s four, with Cindy Conner and Campbell Wilson both narrowly missing wide right. It wasn’t enough to erase a first-half penalty kick, and the 1-0 loss ended a nine-match winning streak that was the longest in program history. Ava de Leest made two saves. Boise State stays in the Treasure Valley to face Oregon State on Oct. 17 at 6 p.m. MT.

🔼 Owning the Podium. Boise State’s women didn’t just win the Dr. Thad Scholes Invitational, they took the first four spots and six of the top 10, with Lejla Carlsson crossing first in 18:25 for her first collegiate win and Madeline Clark, Alison Whalen, and Mariah Belmont tucked in right behind her. It’s the program’s first women’s team win since the 2025 George Oja Invitational and the first individual 5k win by a Bronco since 2024. The men came up just short, losing second place to Weber State on a tiebreaker behind Greyson Piseno’s runner-up finish.
Up in Wisconsin at the Nuttycombe Invitational, Brian Kiprotich turned in the best Bronco men’s finish there since 2021. The Broncos host the Pac-12 Championships at Warm Springs Golf Course on Oct. 30.

🔼 An Incredible Run. Boise State Esports has never known another head coach, and after Oct. 16, it will, as Doc Haskell announced he’s stepping down from his role. Doc Haskell built the program out of his own classroom in 2016 and walks away with seven national championships, more than 1,600 wins, and a résumé no Division I Esports coach can match: 2,430 matches at a 69.4 percent clip. The 2020-23 stretch was the dynasty: four national titles, 806 wins, and a shelf of national coaching awards. He helped found Mountain West Esports and the PEC along the way. Haskell stays on as special advisor through the year before teaching esports courses in the spring, with Kelsey Moser taking over as interim director.
