Good Morning, Bronco Nation!

Ahead of Saturday's 20th anniversary celebration, 20 people who lived the 2007 Fiesta Bowl (players, coaches, the equipment manager, the referee, even the reporters in the press box) walked through the night play by play. The piece traces everything from Chris Petersen's calm bowl-prep message to the Circus lateral that never once worked in practice, to backup quarterback Taylor Tharp buzzing the booth three separate times to remind coaches they still had Statue in the bag. Each person was also asked to sum up the game in a single word. Relive the 2007 Fiesta Bowl in their words.

🔼 Streak Season. No. 22 Boise State opens Pac-12 play Saturday against Utah State riding a few impressive streaks. The Broncos have won 26 straight conference openers dating back to 2000, 10 straight against the Aggies, and 11 in a row against them on The Blue. Dylan Riley enters third nationally in rushing yards per game, Maddux Madsen has nine touchdowns and zero interceptions, and the defense leads the country on money downs, holding opponents to a 19.2 percent success rate on third and fourth down. The game is a sellout, the program's 16th straight in the regular season.

🔼 A Legend Returns. Ryan Clady is coming back to The Blue! The Boise State Hall of Famer and two-time NFL All-Pro will raise the Blue Chaos flag before tomorrow’s Pac-12 opener against Utah State, part of the program's 20th anniversary celebration of the 2007 Fiesta Bowl. Clady started at left tackle in that 43-42 overtime classic and threw a key block on the Statue of Liberty play that won it. He became Boise State's first consensus All-American in 2007 and its first first-round NFL Draft pick a year later, going 12th overall to Denver. Kickoff is 5:30 p.m. MT on CBS Sports Network.

🔼 Coach Pete Gives Back. Chris Petersen and his wife Barbara have joined the Lyle Smith Society as its 350th members, continuing their impact on Boise State well after his coaching days. Petersen went 92-12 across eight seasons on The Blue with two undefeated campaigns, five conference titles, and two Fiesta Bowl victories. He's the only two-time winner of the Bear Bryant Coach of the Year Award and this year became the first Boise State football coach selected for the College Football Hall of Fame. The Lyle Smith Society has contributed more than $80 million to Bronco Athletics since its founding in 2020.

🔼 Statement in San Diego. Boise State soccer opened Pac-12 play by putting four past San Diego State in a 4-1 win, the largest margin of victory over the Aztecs in program history. Mia Lane notched the first brace of her career, winning a foot race against three defenders for the opener before finishing a Campbell Wilson feed in the 69th. Wilson added a free-kick goal two minutes later, and Olivia Collins converted a penalty in the 79th. Ava de Leest matched her career high with seven saves. It's the Broncos' seventh straight win, the longest active streak in the conference.

🔼 A Team of One. Boise State's marching band has more than 200 members. Its baton twirling squad has exactly one. Senior Claire Warner choreographs every routine herself with no coach, and says the job is more mental than physical; much of her prep involves closing her eyes and visualizing exactly what the stadium will look like, right down to what the fans are wearing. The Phoenix native has been twirling since age five, and she picked Boise State in part because the feature twirler spot was opening up. She balances it all with a double major in accounting and information technology management.

🔼 Career-Low Round. Trevor Garus opened the Mark Simpson Colorado Invitational with a 3-under 67, a personal best for his lowest single round, and carried it to an 11th-place finish at 3-under 207. It's his second top-25 showing of the season in as many starts. The junior also parred 40 holes, tied for second in the field. Boise State climbed three spots on the final day to finish 11th of 17 teams, beating six programs, including Pac-12 foes Colorado State and Utah State. The Broncos are right back at it Monday at the Oregon State Invitational, an event they won outright a year ago.

🔼 Broncos in the NFL. Week Four kicks off early for some former Broncos, with John Bates and the Commanders playing in London at 7:30 a.m. MT Sunday. Eight more ex-Broncos follow throughout the day, and Kellen Moore closes the weekend on Monday Night Football with the Saints hosting Atlanta. Ashton Jeanty leads Las Vegas in both rushing yards and receptions as the Raiders sit at 3-0, their first such start since 2021. George Holani posted a career-high five catches for Seattle, and DeMarcus Lawrence earned a team-best 89.8 pass rush grade from Pro Football Focus.

🔼 On to the Next. Boise State volleyball dropped a 3-1 decision to San Diego State last night, but the Broncos showed what they're capable of in the second set, hitting their stride with 12 kills and an answer for everything the Aztecs threw at them. Sadie Snyder closed that frame with a kill and finished the night leading the team with nine. Kendall Hastings added six blocks and hit .400 on seven kills, while Melia Barlow posted team highs with 11 digs and two aces. Boise State out-blocked San Diego State 11-8. Texas State comes to town Saturday at noon MT.

🔼 Coming to Boise. The Red Clay Strays bring their Grateful Tour to ExtraMile Arena on Sunday, Aug. 22, 2027, with St. Paul & The Broken Bones along as special guests. The Mobile, Alabama band is riding a landmark year that included a sold-out Madison Square Garden debut and a second straight Group of the Year win at the ACM Awards. Presales begin Monday, Oct. 5, with public on-sales starting Friday, Oct. 9 at 10 a.m. local. Their third album, Grateful, is out now.
