Good Morning, Boise State 11/17: To the NCAA Championships

Good Morning, Bronco Nation! Boise State men’s hoops battled until the final seconds ticked off the clock in a 62-58 win over Montana State on Saturday:
Four Broncos scored in double digits, with Javan Buchanan leading the way with 19 points, nine boards, and two steals. Andrew Meadow added 14 points, while Drew Fielder had 13, and Dylan Andrews scored 10. Boise State notched its third-consecutive win and climbed to 190-41 at home under Coach Rice.
Boise State will close out its five-game homestand tomorrow night against Wichita State at 7 p.m. MT. The game will air on the Mountain West Network.

🔼 To the NCAA Championships. Boise State women’s cross country and two male individual runners will head to the NCAA Championships. The women’s team earned an at-large bid, while Meshack Kuyo and Alex Thompson also punched their ticket. Kuyo was the top finisher for the men’s squad at the NCAA West Regional, finishing fourth overall, while Thompson earned a 10th-place finish. The NCAA Championships will be held on Nov. 22 at Gans Greek Cross Country Course.

🔼 Break Out the Brooms. Boise State volleyball logged a sweep of Fresno State behind a high-powered offense that featured the highest attack percentage of the season. Four different Broncos posted at least nine kills in the win as Boise State finished with 49 total kills. Layla Smith led the way for the team with 10 kills, while Sydney Dreves, Kailyn Jager, and Eliza Sharp added nine. The Broncos welcome Nevada for the penultimate home match of the season on Thursday at 6 p.m. MT.

🔼 Staying Perfect. Boise State women’s hoops climbed to a 3-0 start on the season with a 91-77 rout of UC Davis on Friday night. Dani Bayes notched a career-high 31 points, while Tatum Thompson posted a career-high of her own with 26 points and 14 boards. It marked Thompson’s eighth-career double-double. The Broncos have now won their last 18 nonconference home games and will face Colorado on the road on Nov. 17 at 7 p.m. MT.

🔼 Up Next. Boise State football fell to San Diego State, 17-7, on the road on Saturday night. With the loss, the Broncos are now in a tie for second place in the Mountain West with two games left to play. Boise State finished with a strong ground attack with 164 rushing yards, while Ty Benefield matched his career-high with 11 tackles. Marco Notarainni, Boen Phelps, and Jake Ripp added eight tackles apiece, and Dylan Riley finished with 79 yards and a score.
