First, Boise State women’s basketball opens the season today at noon against Eastern Oregon. The game will stream live on BroncoSports.com, or you can listen live on KBOI 670 AM with Garrett Jones on the call.

Later this evening, Boise State men’s hoops will also tip off a new season at home at 7 p.m. MT. The Broncos will square off against Hawai’i Pacific with the game airing on the Mountain West Network. You can also listen live on KBOI 670 AM. Boise State men’s hoops has won four-consecutive season openers.

🔼 Remembering a Legend. Before Saturday afternoon’s game, Boise State held a moment of silence to remember Bronco legend Doug Martin.

🔼 Defensive Dominance. Freshman goalie Ava de Leest earned Mountain West Defensive Player of the Week and Co-Freshman of the Week honors! The California native posted a clean sheet in a 3-0 win over Utah State with four saves, good for her sixth shutout of the season. It marks de Leest’s third weekly award of the season.

🔼 Block Party. Boise State volleyball tallied a new school record in the rally-scoring era with 21 blocks in a road win over San Diego State over the weekend. Eliza Sharp paved the way for the Broncos as she set a new Boise State freshman record with 11 blocks. The Broncos will next take the court against Wyoming on Thursday, Nov. 6, at 6 p.m. MT.

🔼 Up Next. Boise State fell to Fresno State, 30-7, at Albertsons Stadium on Saturday afternoon. The Boise State defense limited the Bulldogs to just 35 passing yards, but the Bulldogs capitalized on three Bronco turnovers. Ty Benefield tallied 11 tackles (nine solo), while Chase Penry caught five passes, the most of his career at Boise State, and scored his first touchdown as a Bronco.

Boise State will have a bye this weekend, then travel to San Diego State to play on Saturday, Nov. 15, at 8:30 p.m. MT. That game will air nationally on CBS Sports Network.

🔼 Holding Serve. Women’s tennis finished the Dennis Rizza Classic yesterday, with Lorelyz Marruffo and Tereza Polakova teaming up in doubles to lead the way for the Broncos. The duo earned wins over competition from Fresno State and UC Irvine, while the pairing of Allison Isaacs and Masa Viriant also picked up a doubles win. Polakova, Isaacs, Marruffo, and Viriant all added singles wins during the tournament.

🔼 Conference Stars. Eight Boise State cross country and track and field athletes earned All-Mountain West honors, as announced by the conference. Congratulations to our student-athletes!

🔼 Conference Championships. And speaking of Boise State cross country, the men’s and women’s teams wrapped up the Mountain West Cross Country Championships with two second-place finishes. Both teams finished in second behind New Mexico, with the men’s team posting 72 points and the women’s team grabbing 41. Kaiya Robertson was the first runner to cross the finish line for the women, taking second place, while Meshack Kuyo finished third for the men.

🔼 In the Desert. Two Boise State beach volleyball pairs won their brackets at the Sand Devil Fall Classic in Arizona. Ava Anderson and Addison Wolden won the Silver Bracket of the top division, while Summer McCann and Lily Patock won the middle division’s Silver Bracket. Boise State will wrap up the fall season next weekend, with two duos heading to compete at the AVCA National Pairs Championship, and the rest of the team off to Saint Mary’s for a tournament.
