Good Morning, Bronco Nation!

What else is mixed into today’s edition of Good Morning, Bronco Nation?

🏀 A New Era Begins
🏐 Championship Berth on the Line
🔹 And so much more!

🔼 A New Era Begins. Boise State men’s basketball opens the 2026-27 season this evening at 7 p.m. MT against West Coast Baptist at The X, the program’s first game as a member of the Pac-12. The Broncos tuned up by blasting Bismarck State 104-37 in their exhibition finale, capping a preseason that saw them average 98.3 points and win by a combined 95. Eight new faces join the roster, including former Summit League tournament MVP Damari Wheeler-Thomas and SWAC Defensive Player of the Year Jerquarius Stanback. Full preview here.

🔼 Two More for the Broncos. Ava de Leest and Campbell Wilson earned the Pac-12’s Defensive Player and Newcomer of the Week honors after the shutout win over Texas State. De Leest made four saves to blank a Bobcats side that led the conference in both points and goals per game, her tenth clean sheet of the year and tied for second-most in program history. Wilson’s goal and assist pushed her to the top of the Pac-12 in points, goals, and assists, and Washington State comes to Boas tomorrow at 7 p.m. MT with the regular-season title on the line.

🔼 Blocks and More Blocks. Kendall Hastings picked up Pac-12 Defensive Player of the Week for the second time this fall after piling up 10 blocks across wins over San Diego State and Texas State. The senior middle blocker put up six against the Aztecs, her twelfth match this season with at least five, then hit .500 against the Bobcats with a team-high 15 kills.

🔼 Championship Berth on the Line. The Broncos host Oregon State tonight at 6 p.m. MT and head to Colorado State Saturday at noon MT, sitting fourth in the Pac-12 at 7-4 with five matches left and a championship berth to lock down, as only the top four get in. Boise State comes in hot off a sweep that snapped San Diego State’s eight-match win streak, the program’s twelfth sweep of the season and the most since 2017. Sydney Dreves has double-doubles in each of the last two, and the Broncos lead the conference in digs.

🔼 Built Different. Boise State recognized Max Cutforth, Jaden Mickey, and Boen Phelps as the Built Different Players of the Game after Saturday’s thriller.

🔼 Welcome to Boise. Boise State women’s tennis adds André Steinbach to the coaching staff, a four-year Louisville player who captained the Cardinals and played the No. 1 and 2 spots as a senior. He climbed as high as No. 21 nationally in doubles and competed at the 2025 NCAA Doubles Championships before turning pro.

Leon Rice has hit 20 wins in 13 of his 16 full seasons. How long is the current run?
