Good Morning, Bronco Nation! Tyson Degenhart and Pearson Carmichael have been named Mountain West Men's Basketball Player of the Week and Freshman of the Week, respectively.
 
Degenhart and Carmichael played pivotal roles in Boise State’s consecutive wins against two top 75 teams in the NCAA's NET rankings—New Mexico and Nevada. Against New Mexico, the duo combined for 53 points.
 
Claiming player of the week accolades for the second time this year, Degenhart is the first Bronco since Derrick Alston Jr. (2020-21) to garner the distinction multiple times in the same season.

🔼 The More You Know. If you thought Boise State legendary running back Ashton Jeanty’s play was the most interesting thing about him, his backstory just might prove even more intriguing.

🔼 A Lion’s Share. Boise State gymnastics has clinched a share of the Mountain West Regular Season Championship!

Come to the meet this Friday to cheer on the Broncos as they strive to become outright champions.

🔼 Frosh Off the Presses. Makenzie Butt was named MW Freshman of the Week after helping the Broncos (12-3) to a 5-0 record at the Lyman Classic. This is the second-straight week Boise State softball received the top freshman honor from the Mountain West, with shortstop Chloe Hughes getting the honor last week.

Butt batted .400 (6-for-15) with four home runs, 12 RBI and eight runs. She added six walks for a .571 on-base percentage. Against San Diego, Feb. 21, she homered twice and drove in five. It was her second, two-home run performance and came in her 11th-career game.

🔼 Day One, Done and Dusted! And that may be quite literal for the Boise State men’s golf team, as the tournament is in the arid desert of Henderson, Nevada. Make sure to check back for day two and three results for the Lake Las Vegas Invitational, as the team is playing today and tomorrow.

As Eric Galko, Director of Football Ops, Shrine Bowl tweeted, “#BoiseState’s Ahmed Hassanein is one of the more unique backgrounds in the 2025 class, and points to his continued growth as a pass rusher still to come. After living most of his life in Egypt, he started playing football just 6 years ago. Since then, he’s quickly developed into an elite rusher, with every expectation that he’s still has ample room to grow.

“He’s the ONLY defensive lineman in this draft class that has had back to back 15+ TFL seasons. The only one. His consistency, motor, high football IQ and ability to win as a power rusher (video) should make him a plug-and-play NFL contributor with ample room to develop into a quality NFL starter.”
