Good Morning, Boise State 3/3: Meadow Moves the MBB Needle

Good Morning, Bronco Nation! Behind a game-high 22-point performance by Andrew Meadow, Boise State beat Fresno State, 66-61, on Saturday evening at Save Mart Center. The Broncos (21-8, 13-5 MW) have won eight of their last nine games.
 
In addition to his 22 points, Meadow grabbed six rebounds in over 36 minutes of game action. Tyson Degenhart notched his 11th career double-double and posted 14 points, 11 rebounds and two steals. Alvaro Cardenas needs one assist to reach 200 on the season.

🔼 Not So Heavy Lies the Crown. Boise State gymnastics was named outright Mountain West regular season champions after defeating Air Force 195.800-194.500, Friday night, concluding their regular season with a 5-1 conference record.

Emily Lopez claimed the vault and bars title, while Emma Loyim was named the beam champion.

🔼 Left It All On the Field. Boise State lost the championship game of the Birds Up Bash 15-11 to Houston, Sunday. The Broncos (15-5) overcame an 8-1 deficit with an eight-run fourth inning, but Houston (14-5) rallied for seven runs in the sixth.

🔼 A Sandy Success. Boise State beach volleyball opened its 2025 campaign with a successful weekend, finishing 3-2 over three days of competition. The Broncos defeated Arizona, Oregon and UTEP while falling to No. 11 Arizona State and No. 18 Grand Canyon.

Two pairs finished a team-best 4-1 on the weekend. Allyson Alden/Sharli O'Neil went 4-1 from the No. 2 position, while Lily Patock/Elli Wolthuis finished the weekend 4-1 from court five. O'Neil became the sixth Bronco in program history to eclipse 50 career victories. Head coach Allison Voigt finishes the weekend one win short of 100 career victories, boasting a 99-53 overall record. 

🔼 Down, Never Out. The Boise State women's tennis team returned to the win column, defeating St. Thomas 6-1 Sunday afternoon.

After dropping two consecutive team doubles points, the Broncos (8-2) bounced back with strong performances against the Tommies (6-4). Maya Dutta and Zdena Safarova made quick work of their opponents at the top doubles spot, earning a 6-0 victory. On court three, Bhakti Shah and Paula Schaefer edged out St. Thomas's Caroline Lindahl and Ingrid Forsberg 7-5, clinching the first point for the Broncos.

Sophomore Ella Piron and freshman Schaefer also grabbed singles wins, earning points five and six for the team.

🔼 Relaying Great News. Landon Helms became the first Bronco since 2012 to win the indoor MW heptathlon while Kaiya Robertson, Alyssa Cullen, Janiah Brown and Yasmin Marghini claimed the top spot in the women's distance medley relay as Boise State concluded competition at the MW Indoor Championships.

Emily Stefan got the Broncos started in the women's pentathlon on day one, setting a 149-point personal best, good for fifth place in the meet and second in Boise State history.

🔼 Saturday Split. Boise State men's tennis – ranked 29th nationally – faced a pair of ranked opponents on Saturday, earning a split on the final day of the Diablos College Invitational in Tempe, Arizona.
 
The Broncos opened the day falling 4-1 to No. 41 Arizona State, then regrouped in the afternoon to defeat 49th-ranked Washington 4-2 in the third-place match. With the split, Boise State improved to 9-4 overall.

🔼 Road Blip. Boise State women's basketball dropped its final road contest of the season to Air Force, 75-68, Saturday afternoon.

After a back-and-forth first half, the Broncos (16-14, 6-11 MW) fell victim to a 12-2 third-quarter run from the Falcons (17-12, 7-10 MW). Boise State cut the lead to seven, but was never able to fully close the gap. Despite the defeat, four Broncos scored in double figures—Tatum Thompson, Natalie Pasco, Dani Bayes and Elodie Lalotte.

🔼 Take This Down. Boise State's season opener against South Florida has been moved to Thursday, Aug. 28, the schools announced on Friday. The two-time defending Mountain West champions will travel to Tampa for their first game of 2025, which also marks the first contest between the Broncos and Bulls. Kickoff time and broadcast information will be announced at a later date.
