Good Morning, Boise State 4/25: Ashton Jeanty Goes Pro

The Las Vegas Raiders selected Boise State running back Ashton Jeanty with the sixth overall pick of the 2025 NFL Draft.

Good Morning, Bronco Nation! The Las Vegas Raiders selected Boise State running back Ashton Jeanty with the sixth overall pick of the 2025 NFL Draft, making the Maxwell Award and Doak Walker Award winner the highest NFL draft pick in program history. Jeanty is the third Boise State player to be selected by the Raiders.

Jeanty is the 73rd player all-time to be drafted to the NFL out of Boise State and 44th since 2000, the most in the MW. He is the second-highest pick in Mountain West history behind Alex Smith (Utah), who was selected first overall by the San Francisco 49ers in 2005. He is the highest running back selected since Saquon Barkley (Penn State) was picked second overall by the New York Giants in 2018.

🔼 To the Finals in Dramatic Fashion. Boise State senior James Van Herzeele rallied from two down in the third set to hand the Broncos a dramatic 4-3 victory over Nevada in the Credit Union 1 Mountain West Championship semifinal round Thursday night in Las Vegas.
 
The win advances the two-time defending champions to tonight's final versus the No. 2-seeded New Mexico Lobos at 6 p.m. MT. It’s the eighth MW Championship final since joining the league in 2012; the Broncos are 6-1 in MW finals and 17-3 in conference tournament finals all-time.

🔼 In the Dog-Eat-Dog Tennis World, Be a Bronco. The Boise State women’s tennis team cruised past Fresno State in its first match of the Credit Union 1 Mountain West Championship on Thursday, defeating the Bulldogs 4-0.

With the victory, the No. 4 Broncos (17-5) advance to the semifinal round for the second time over the last three seasons. Boise State will face off against San Diego State today at noon MT.

🔼 On Par. Seeking its first conference tournament title in program history, Boise State men's golf will compete in the Credit Union 1 Mountain West Men's Golf Championship. The three-day, 54-hole event begins today and runs through Sunday, April 27.
 
With all 11 Mountain West institutions competing, teams will play 18 holes each day.
 
Boise State junior Cole Rueck is the defending MW individual champion. Rueck, who shot a 209 (-7) to win the 2024 tournament, looks to become the first two-time winner in MW history.

🔼 Down, Not Out. Boise State beach volleyball fell in a highly competitive contest, dropping the winners' bracket final 3-2 to Texas A&M-Corpus Christi on Thursday.

With the dual tied 2-2, the outcome came down to the No. 2 court, with the Islanders staving off multiple match points to prevail 16-21, 21-17, 25-23 to claim the victory.

The Broncos will face the winner of No. 3 San Jose State and No. 4 Stephen F. Austin in the consolation final today at 10:15 a.m. MT. The winner of the consolation final will face Texas A&M-Corpus Christi in the championship dual at 1 p.m.

🔼 Fielding Opportunities. Boise State sophomore Sophia Knight continues to be ranked among the nation's best. The Bronco center fielder was ranked seventh in D1Softball's Power Outfielder Rankings, Thursday.

Knight leads the NCAA with 93 hits and a .517 batting average. The hits total set Mountain West and Boise State records.

Cole Reuck is just the fifth golfer in program history to win a conference championship. He joins Danny Moore (1984, Big Sky), Danny Deiro (1995, Big Sky), Troy Merritt (2008, WAC) and Brian Humphreys (2017, Mountain West) to accomplish the feat.
