🔼 What A Run. March may be over, but the madness was still around this past weekend on the hard courts over the weekend in Vegas.

On Saturday, freshman Masa Viriant delivered yet another clutch performance to lead the Boise State women’s tennis program to its first-ever Mountain West Conference Championship.

With the win, the Broncos secured an automatic berth to the 2025 NCAA Women's Tennis Tournament, which begins May 2.

The championship victory is the program's first in the Mountain West and seventh overall conference title. The Broncos also made history as the first team seeded No. 4 or lower to win the MW title since No. 6 TCU defeated No. 5 San Diego State in 2010.

🔼 Path To The Pros. It all started on Thursday and the celebration for Boise State football continued all weekend long.

On Saturday, Ahmed Hassanein achieved his dream and got the phone call that he was selected in the sixth round of the NFL Draft by the Detroit Lions.

Just a few hours later, Hassanein saw three of his Boise State teammates sign free agent deals including Alex Teubner (Ravens), Ben Dooley (Rams) and Cam Camper (Jaguars).

🔼 Hardware Haul. The women’s tennis team wasn’t the only program bringing home hardware this weekend.

The Boise State beach volleyball squad got the party started on Friday when they claimed its first-ever Southland Conference Championship and earned a bid to the 16-team NCAA Beach Volleyball National Championship.

The Broncos recorded two sweeps on Friday to secure the championship, first defeating No. 3 San Jose State 3-0 in the consolation final before taking down three-time defending champion Texas A&M-Corpus Christi by the same margin in the championship contest. 

Up next? A trip to the NCAA Tournament as the #14 seed and a date with #3 Stanford.

🔼 In Good Company. Usually freshman have a transition period when arriving on the collegiate scene.

Makenzie Butt is not like most freshman.

Over the weekend, the BSU softball standout was named a Top 25 Freshman by the NFCA.

Butt is batting .367 with 20 home runs and 71 RBI. She is the 12th freshman in NCAA history to record at least 20 home runs and 70 RBI.

A native of Fountain Valley, California, Butt ranks in the top five among NCAA freshmen in runs (50), runs per game (1.04), slugging percentage (.837) and walks per game (0.75).
