Good Morning, Boise State 4/3: They're Coming For That Crown

Boise State MBB defeated Butler on Wednesday evening at MGM Grand Garden Arena in the College Basketball Crown tournament, advancing to the semifinals.

Good Morning, Bronco Nation! Reaching the century mark for just the second time in a postseason game, Boise State MBB defeated Butler, 100-93, on Wednesday evening at MGM Grand Garden Arena in the College Basketball Crown tournament.

Go here for more on the star players, including Javan Buchanan, who paced all Broncos with a team-high 27 points, and Tyson Degenhart, who eclipsed 2,000 points in his career.

With the win, Boise State advances to the semifinal round and will play the winner of Nebraska and Georgetown. The Broncos will take the floor again Saturday morning, with the tip off set for 11:30 a.m. MT.

🔼 Save the Last Dance. No. 30 Boise State will compete in the 2025 NCAA Regional Championships today at 1 p.m. in Salt Lake City. The Broncos will take on No. 5 UCLA, No. 10 Minnesota and No. 24 Southern Utah in the second round and the top two will advance to the regional finals.

This marks the 17th-straight season that the Broncos have qualified for regionals. Head coach Tina Bird has been to the dance every year she’s been at the helm of the program with the current streak starting her first season in 2008.

🔼 A Hitting Master Class. The Boise State softball team racked up 26 runs and 25 hits in a doubleheader sweep of Colorado State at Dona Larsen Park, Wednesday. Boise State's offense was firing on all cylinders, scoring in nine of 10 offensive innings in the afternoon.

The Broncos (27-11, 6-5 MW) posted an 11-4 win in the opener and routed the Rams (13-22, 3-8) 15-1 in five innings during the nightcap.

🔼 Power Players. For the third time this season, the Boise State women’s tennis team has earned both MW Player of the Week and Freshman of the Week honors. Zdena Safarova was named the MW Player of the Week, while Maya Dutta was recognized as the MW Freshman of the Week. The Broncos have now collected nine weekly awards this season, four more than any other MW school.

Safarova earned her third player of the week award of the season after an undefeated weekend. This marks Dutta's sixth MW weekly award and fifth freshman of the week honor. She earned the recognition for the second consecutive week and has now tied Fresno State's Matilde Magrini (2022) for the conference record for most by a player in a single season.
