Good Morning, Boise State 4/4: Gymnastics' Bittersweet Ending

The Boise State gymnastics team concluded its 2025 team competition with a fourth-place finish at the first session of the NCAA Regional Championships Second Round, with Emily Lopez tying for first on bars.

Good Morning, Bronco Nation! The Boise State gymnastics team concluded its 2025 team competition with a fourth-place finish at the first session of the NCAA Regional Championships Second Round, scoring 195.175. Emily Lopez tied for first on bars with a 9.900, her 21st-career win on the apparatus.

The Broncos await the results of the April 3 evening session and the April 5 regional final to see if any individuals qualify for the NCAA Gymnastics Championships, held April 17 and 19 in Fort Worth, Texas.

๐Ÿ”ผ Keeping Track X 2. The Mike Fanelli Classic will take place at Cox Stadium in San Francisco, and live stats can be found here. The Stanford Invite will be held at Cobb Track and Angell Field in Stanford. Live stats are available here.

Boise State competed in both events last season, where former Bronco Nyenuchi Okemgbo took first in the womenโ€™s 400-meter hurdles.

In the season opener March 21-22, Boise State recorded 11 top-10 finishes and 34 personal bests, highlighted by Calvin Bosticโ€™s bronze finish in the menโ€™s shot put.

๐Ÿ”ผ The Upper Hand. The Boise State menโ€™s tennis team hits the road for two matches this weekendโ€”at UNLV tonight at 5 p.m. MT and at San Diego State Sunday at 1 p.m. The squad enters the week ranked 42nd nationally with an overall record of 15-4 and 1-0 in conference. The Broncos are coming off a win over Utah State 5-2, winning the team doubles point, then followed with four singles victories on courts three through six.

Boise State leads the all-time series against UNLV 14-7, including victories in the last three encounters. The series against San Diego State also favors the Broncos, but by a slim two-win margin, 14-12.   

๐Ÿ”ผ The Seemingly Endless Knight. Boise State's Sophia Knight was recognized once again, this time as a top 10 outfielder nationally. A sophomore, Knight checked in at No. 10 in the Softball America April Position Power Rankings. She was No. 15 in the same rankings in March.

The Broncos' leadoff hitter is tops in the nation with 78 hits and second in the NCAA, behind teammate Mykenzie Hanna with, 50 runs. Knight is second in the country with a .527 batting average and is the only player in the NCAA averaging two-plus hits per game (2.05).

๐Ÿ”ผ She Brings โ€˜Em Home. Boise State freshman Makenzie Butt is No. 10 in the week 8 D1Softball First Base Player Power Rankings.

Butt collected six RBI in a doubleheader sweep of Colorado State, Wednesday, to set a Boise State single-season record  at 58. A native of Fountain Valley, California, Butt leads the team with 16 home runs, tied for third in the country. Her 0.43 per game is tied for seventh nationally.
