Good Morning, Boise State 4/6: On Their Marks
Honoring the memory of Jeremy Ioane.
Good Morning, Bronco Nation! The Boise State football family is honoring the memory of Jeremy Ioane, a former safety who played for the Broncos from 2010-14 and was part of four bowl-champion teams, including the 2014 Fiesta Bowl winners. The Honolulu, Hawai'i native earned All-Mountain West Second Team honors in 2013 and was a preseason Jim Thorpe Award candidate in 2014, finishing his career with 146 tackles and five interceptions across 41 games.

Ioane courageously battled kidney disease during his playing days, undergoing dialysis treatment during his senior season before receiving a kidney transplant from his twin sister Jasmine in May 2015. His resilience inspired the #10aneStrong movement across Bronco Nation, and his legacy lives on through the pipeline of Hawai'i players who have followed him to Boise State every year since his arrival in 2010.

🔼 Going Undefeated. The Broncos (13-11, 2-1 Big 12) capped a perfect weekend at the Boise State Beach Classic with a 5-0 sweep of UTEP and a 4-1 win over CSUN on Saturday, extending their home winning streak to 24, the fifth-longest active streak in the country, dating back to 2020. Avery Allen and Keira Demirjian dominated all weekend from the No. 2 spot, while Allyson Alden and Serena van der Made survived multiple match points in a thrilling 21-14, 18-21, 20-18 three-set win against CSUN at the top court. The Broncos host the Boise State Beach Bash next weekend (April 10), opening against South Florida at 1 p.m. MT.

🔼 Tee Off. Boise State senior Cole Rueck punched his ticket to the pros, finishing T2 at the PGA Tour Americas Qualifying School at Soboba Springs with a 13-under 275 (70-69-67-69) to earn full membership for the 2026 season. Rueck went under par in all four rounds, birdied 18 times, and was the only amateur in the 150-plus player field to earn full exemption. Rueck, who already won the Genesis Collegiate Showcase in back-to-back years (2024, 2025), adds this milestone to a stellar senior campaign that includes two individual championships and six top-10 finishes in nine team tournaments.
The Broncos are back at it today at the UC Santa Barbara Intercollegiate.

🔼 Held Serve. The Broncos (15-3, 7-1 MW) made quick work of Fresno State on the road, recording their fifth conference sweep this season. Carla Grignac and Lorelyz Marruffo set the tone with a 6-0 doubles win at No. 3, and Masa Viriant cruised 6-0, 6-2 at No. 3 singles. Allison Isaacs clinched the match at No. 4 with a 6-2, 6-3 win, extending her remarkable winning streak at that spot to 13 straight matches (15-2 overall). Boise State has now won seven consecutive road matches and heads to Air Force on April 10.

🔼 On Their Marks. Boise State track & field hit the ground running across three meets to kick off the outdoor season, claiming five event titles and seven top-five marks in program history. Alex Thompson headlined at the Stanford Invitational, setting a Bronco program record in the men's 5,000 meters at 13:33.96. At the UNLV Rebel Elite, Raekwon Weatherspoon won the long jump with a 7.78m (25-6.25) mark, good fourth-best in program history, while Aayden Simmons took the high jump (2.05m), Victoria Lotz won the hammer throw (58.72m), and Ollie Wear captured the javelin (68.00m).
Both relay squads blazed near the top of the Boise State record book, with the men's 4x100 running the second-fastest time in program history (40.34) and the women's 4x100 posting the fourth-fastest (45.58). Breasia Roberts clocked the third-fastest 100 meters in program history at 11.57. Hanna Ackermann added a 5,000-meter win at the Mike Fanelli Classic. The Broncos will head to Texas A&M and the NNU Open next (April 9-11).

🔼 Up Next. The Broncos head to Arizona for the Cowgirl Classic (April 7-8), their final regular-season event before the Mountain West Championship. BSU rides momentum from a dominant 13.5-2.5 win over Idaho in the State of Idaho Match, where they swept the Alternate Shot round and won six of the singles matches. Full preview here.
