🔼 Making History. Boise State women’s golf’s Leia Chung punched her ticket to the NCAA Regional Championship as an individual qualifier, becoming just the third Bronco ever to reach the postseason. Chung earned her automatic berth by winning the Mountain West Championship at 5-under 211, the lowest conference championship score in program history and the first individual conference title for Boise State since Shawna Seiber won the Big Sky crown in 1993. The Hawai'i native also set a program record with three individual victories this season. She'll compete at the Stanford Regional from May 11-13.

🔼 The Cole Rueck Story. Cole Rueck arrived at Boise State as an undersized freshman who finished 82nd out of 84 golfers at his hometown tournament and left as arguably the greatest player in program history. After a rocky start, Rueck found his confidence at the Genesis Collegiate Showcase during his sophomore campaign, where an even-par 71 at Riviera and a playoff birdie earned him a win and an exemption to the Scottish Open. From there, his career took off: back-to-back Genesis titles, a Mountain West individual championship, invitations to PGA Tour events, and 17 career top-10 finishes.
This spring, Rueck tied for second at PGA Tour Qualifying School to earn full membership on the 2026 PGA Tour Americas, then made the tough call to forgo his final collegiate events to chase his professional dream. He told his teammates over dinner at Chipotle, fired a 5-under in his final college tournament, and headed straight to Brazil for his pro debut. Coach David Trainor summed it up best: as good a player as Rueck is, he's a better person.

🔼 Thursday W. Boise State softball beat San Jose State, 11-2, last night to open the series. Julianne Rose picked up the win from the circle, while Marissa Gonzalez paved the way offensively, going 2-for-3 with two homers and five RBI. The Broncos picked up RBI from Mya Flindt (two), Sophia Romero (one), and Skylar Stroh (one). Boise State and San Jose State square off this afternoon at 3 p.m. from Huber Field at Dona Larsen Park.

🔼 All-Tournament Bronco. Boise State's Masa Viriant earned All-Mountain West Tournament Team honors at No. 3 singles for the second straight year. The Slovenian native picked up a straight-sets semifinal win over UNLV for the Broncos' lone team point at the MW Tournament and finished the season with 14 wins at the No. 3 spot, tied for seventh most in a single season in program history.

🔼 Tournament Honors. Boise State's Taiyo Kurata and Lukas Velik both earned Mountain West All-Tournament honors after going a combined 6-0 in singles play at the conference championship, with every win coming in straight sets. Kurata picked up his second career all-tournament selection at No. 6 singles, tying Sam Sippel for the most in program history and matching the all-time Mountain West record. Velik earned his first career honor at No. 5 singles and becomes the youngest Bronco to receive the distinction since its inception in 2024.

🔼 Split Ahead. Boise State track and field closes out its split-meet stretch with athletes heading to the Payton Jordan Invitational at Stanford today and the Desert Heat Classic in Tucson tomorrow. Record-setter Raekwon Weatherspoon returns to action in the long jump in Tucson, while Victoria Lotz competes in three throwing events (hammer, shot put, and discus). Emily Jobes and Kaiya Robertson represent the Broncos at Stanford in the steeplechase and 1,500 meters.
🔼 Look Who’s Back. Check out the squad returning for another season of Boise State men’s basketball!
🔼 Off the Blue. Boise State women’s tennis’ Zdena Safarova joined Off the Blue this week! Listen here.
