Good Morning, Boise State 5/11: NCAA Regionals Time

Leia Chung tees off as the third Bronco ever to qualify.

Good Morning, Bronco Nation! Congratulations to the 61 Boise State student-athletes who earned degrees this spring across 14 sport programs, alongside 18 graduate assistants from the Master of Athletic Leadership program.

Gymnast Sydney Leitch headlined the academic honorees as a Top Ten Scholar, one of the university's highest undergraduate academic honors, while also earning the Bronco in the Community award alongside women's golfer Annie Buffolino. Mya Hansen (women's basketball), Kaiya Robertson (cross country/track and field), and Alex Thompson (men's cross country/track and field) took home Academic Excellence awards for the highest cumulative GPAs among student-athlete graduates. 🔼 NCAA Regionals Time. Boise State's Leia Chung tees off at the NCAA Regionals today in Stanford as the third Bronco ever to qualify for postseason play. Chung also earned All-Mountain West First Team honors, becoming the first Bronco golfer to receive first-team all-conference recognition since Marie Beasley in 2001. She returned from a season-ending injury to put together a historic campaign: three tournament wins (a program record), a team-best 72.23 scoring average (second-lowest in school history), and the lowest conference championship score in program history at 5-under 211. Her 72.90 career scoring average is also the best in Boise State history.

🔼 Regular Season Finale. Boise State track & field closed out its regular season at the Portland Twilight with four personal records ahead of the Mountain West Outdoor Championships. Senior Noelani Krauss led the way with a 2:06.81 in the women's 800 meters, the top collegiate time in the event, while freshman Drew Bradeson posted a PR of 1:51.39 in the men's 800. In the women's 1,500, seniors Nanette Novak (4:20.71) and Bianca Boehnke (4:22.05) each set PRs and finished second and third among collegians. The Broncos head to Fresno for the Mountain West Outdoor Championships May 14-16.

🔼 Welcome to Boise. Boise State men's basketball landed a major addition in 6-6 guard Ty Rodgers, who played four seasons at Illinois. The Michigan native started all 38 games as a sophomore when Illinois reached the NCAA Elite Eight, shooting 52.7 percent from the field. A former four-star recruit and Michigan Division I Player of the Year after leading Grand Blanc High School to its first state championship in 2021, Rodgers brings elite versatility to the Broncos' inaugural Pac-12 roster.

🔼 Happy Mother’s Day. Boise State football celebrates moms!
