Good Morning, Boise State 5/18: Ran For It
Plus: Coach Duryea retires.
Good Morning, Bronco Nation! Boise State men's basketball assistant Tim Duryea has retired after a 35-year coaching career. Duryea joined Boise State before the 2018-19 season and served as lead offensive coach through one of the program's greatest stretches: 171 wins, six 20-win seasons, three consecutive NCAA Tournament appearances, and Mountain West regular-season and tournament titles in 2021-22.

He coached 11 Broncos to all-conference honors, including three-time All-Mountain West selection Tyson Degenhart. Duryea finishes his career with 11 NCAA Tournament appearances and eight conference championships across stops at Colorado State, North Texas, Hutchinson Community College, Utah State, and Boise State.

πΌ Ran For It. Boise State track and field put together one of its best performances in program history at the Mountain West Outdoor Championships, with the women's team finishing third, their highest finish ever at a Mountain West outdoor meet and first top-three conference outdoor finish since 2010.
Kaiya Robertson was the star of the show, winning both the 800 (personal-best 2:02.81) and 1500 meters (4:18.28) on Saturday to become the first Bronco in nearly 30 years to sweep both events at the same conference meet.
On the men's side, Raekwon Weatherspoon won the long jump with a 7.91m leap, good for second-best in program history.
Alex Thompson came from behind on the final lap to claim the men's 1500 title.
Freshman Aayden Simmons earned silver medals in the high jump, long jump, and triple jump (all personal bests) to co-win the men's high point scorer award, the first Bronco to do so since Kurt Felix in 2012.
Across the weekend, Broncos set 26 personal bests, one program record, and recorded 12 podium appearances across the meet.

πΌ BroncoBOLD Grows. Boise State Athletics has selected Camas County, Homedale, Melba, and Skyview High Schools to join the BroncoBOLD High School Ambassador Program for 2026-27, expanding the mental health initiative into its fourth year with a focus on rural communities across Idaho. Each school will receive mentorship from Boise State student-athletes, funding opportunities for counseling office resources, and access to Youth Mental Health First Aid and QPR training. The program now connects a network of 20 high schools statewide.
