Good Morning, Bronco Nation! Bhakti Shah grew up in Hyderabad, India, the capital of the southern state of Telangana. As a child, she loved playing tennis and competed throughout India and internationally. 

As a youth, she won three national junior tournaments. As Shah became more successful and grew, she considered playing collegiately in the United States.

She not only took the leap and found athletic success at Boise State, but Shah has also been recognized as a top scholar.

πŸ”Ό Sand, Stanford & Serious BVB Biz. Boise State beach volleyball is one of 16 teams that will compete at the 2025 NCAA Beach Volleyball National Championship, which begins Friday, May 2 in Gulf Shores, Alabama. The Broncos (23-11), who are playing in the national tournament for the first time in program history, received a No. 14 seed and will take on No. 3 Stanford at 1 p.m. MT on Friday in a dual that will be broadcast on ESPN2. If the Broncos win on Friday, the squad will take on the winner of No. 6 Cal Poly or No. 11 LSU on Saturday at 11 a.m. MT.

πŸ”Ό Let’s Raise the Stakes. No. 70 Boise State will face No. 22 Baylor in the first round of the 2025 NCAA Division I Women's Tennis Championship this morning at 9 a.m. MT in Austin, Texas. The Broncos earned an automatic bid by winning their first conference tournament championship since 2010. The winner will advance to face either No. 14 Texas or Grand Canyon.

Boise State (19-5, 7-3 MW) is making its eighth overall NCAA Tournament appearance and first since 2010. That year, the Broncos defeated Iowa 4-1 in the first round before falling to Notre Dame 4-0 in the second.

πŸ”Ό We’re Gonna Need a Bigger Trophy Shelf. Boise State women's tennis head coach Beck Roghaar was named the 2024-25 MW Coach of the Year.

The recognition came alongside four Broncos earning All-Mountain West tournament singles honors. Zdena Safarova was selected for All-MW honors in No. 1 singles, Maya Dutta in No. 2 singles, Paula Schaefer in No. 4 singles, and Masa Viriant in No. 6 singles.

πŸ”Ό Spectacular Success From the Circle. Boise State freshman Olivia Bauer stymied a powerful Utah State offense and the Broncos defeated the Aggies 7-1 in the series opener, Thursday.

Bauer (8-4) went 6 1/3 innings and gave up one run on five hits against a Utah State (26-23, 11-9 Mountain West) offense that came in batting .369 and averaging 7.68 runs per game in conference play.

πŸ”Ό Boys in Blue. The 42nd-ranked Boise State (21-5) men’s tennis team heads to Berkeley, California, for the opening round of the NCAA Men’s Tennis National Championship against the 11th-ranked Cal Golden Bears (18-4) at 2 p.m. MT today. The winner of the Boise State-Cal match will face the winner of the UCLA-UC Santa Barbara match in the second round at 2 p.m. (MT) on Saturday in Berkeley.
 
The MW Regular Season Champion Broncos are appearing in their third-straight NCAA championship tournament and 21st in program history.

πŸ”Ό Tennis’ One-Two Punch. The Boise State's doubles team of Taiyo Kurata and Julius Seifert has been named to the 2025 MW Men's Tennis Championship All-Tournament Team for their performance at last week's tournament in Las Vegas.

Kurata and Seifert enter the NCAA Championship with an overall mark of 9-4 at the No. 2 position. They won seven of their last nine contests heading into today's NCAA opener at 11th-ranked Cal.

The Broncos will compete again after hosting their first home track meet since 2019, where the team set several top-five marks. Boise State returns two of its three all-conference runners from the 2024 outdoor season.
