Good Morning, Boise State 7/17: Bronco Football Reigns Supreme

Boise State football was selected as the preseason favorite to win the Mountain West, the league announced at its annual media days.

Good Morning, Bronco Nation! Boise State football was selected as the preseason favorite to win the Mountain West, the league announced at its annual media days on Wednesday.

The No. 3 seed in last year's College Football Playoff and the defending back-to-back MW champion earned 35 of the 39 first-place votes and 464 total points.

The two MW programs with the best conference records will compete in the 2025 MW Football Championship, which will take place on Friday, Dec. 5.

The Broncos report for fall camp on July 27 before hitting the practice field for the first time on July 28. Boise State will open the season on the road against South Florida on Aug. 28 at 3:30 p.m. MT on ESPN. The home opener is Friday, Sept. 5, at 7 p.m. at Albertsons Stadium.

🔼 True Deca-dence. Boise State placed a league-high 10 players on the Preseason All-Mountain West team. Quarterback Maddux Madsen headlined the list for the Broncos, garnering Preseason Offensive Player of the Year selection. Last season, Madsen led the conference in passing yards (3,018) and touchdowns (23).

Boise State's 10 Preseason All-MW selections mark the program's most during its time in the conference, which began in 2011. Madsen is the eighth Bronco to be named MW Preseason Player of the Year.

Madsen was joined by wide receiver Latrell Caples, tight end Matt Lauter and offensive linemen Kage Casey and Mason Randolph on the conference's offensive team. Defensively, Boise State was represented by defensive lineman Braxton Fely, EDGE Jayden Virgin-Morgan, linebacker Marco Notarainni and defensive backs Ty Benefield and A'Marion McCoy.

🔼 Good Beyond the Gridiron. Boise State linebacker Marco Notarainni has been recognized as a nominee for the Allstate AFCA Good Works Team. The Good Works Team will include 22 student-athletes and one head coach who make outstanding contributions to their communities.

Last season, Notarainni posted 60 total tackles, including 7.5 TFLs and 3.5 sacks. He was named Second Team Academic All-America by College Sports Communicators and secured All-Mountain West First Team honors. Off the field, Notarainni was a Boise State University Top 10 Scholar and is a member of the Beta Gamma Sigma International Business Honor Society and Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society. He routinely volunteers at an elementary school, the Idaho Food Bank and the Boise Rescue Mission.
