Good Morning, Boise State 8/21: Kage Casey, Man Of Routine

Read this week’s B1: Feature: “Man of Routine" about reshirt tackle Kage Casey.

Good Morning, Bronco Nation! Everyone has their morning routine. Coffee. Exercise. Hit snooze. Not necessarily in that order. For the Boise State offensive line, the morning routine includes a group text.

With an early start to their screen time, the group of trench workers gets a text one hour before their first meeting or workout of the day from senior Mason Randolph that simply says, “Good morning.”

All 21 members of the offensive line are expected to react to the text to signal to the group they are awake and ready to attack the day.

Kage Casey, the redshirt junior left tackle out of Happy Valley, Ore., is usually walking into the Bleymaier Football Center when the text arrives in his messages.

“It's just part of our routine,” says Casey. “It's what we do every day as an o-line, but it's typically for the new freshmen, as a ‘Hey, we need to know you're awake. Because if no one has seen you in the facility, we're going to go to your dorm.’”

🏈 HOW THEY GOT HERE 🏆

🔼 Your Sense Of Direction Called. In preparation for the upcoming football season, Boise State Athletics has launched a brand-new interactive gameday map, building off the university's existing digital map system, to help Bronco Nation find the fastest routes to food, fun, and football both outside of Albertsons Stadium and inside the venue. The map is accessible via the BroncoSports app and will include information related to parking, game day activities, concessions menus, restroom locations, ADA accessibility, and will also provide turn-by-turn directions based upon your location and destination. 🔼 A Lone Star, Indeed. Boise State wide receiver Latrell Caples was recognized on the Earl Campbell Tyler Rose Award Watch List. The award is presented annually to the nation's most outstanding Division I offensive player who graduated from a Texas high school or plays at a four-year college in Texas. Caples is a native of Lancaster, Texas, and graduated from Lancaster High School.

Caples enters his sixth year at Boise State with 93 receptions for 1,078 yards and nine touchdowns. After missing the entire 2023 season due to injury, he caught 38 passes for 473 yards and five touchdowns in 2024. Of his 38 catches, 28 gained a first down or scored a touchdown.

🔼 It’s On For NonCon. Boise State unveiled its entire nonconference schedule for the 2025-26 season on Wednesday.

Additionally, the team announced that season tickets for the upcoming campaign will go on sale today at 10 a.m. Fans wishing to purchase tickets can do so by visiting broncosports.com/tickets.

🏀 FULL RUNDOWN 📆

🔼 Set Up For Success. We are three-quarters of the way through this year's volleyball preseason position preview. After taking a look at the outside hitter and middle blocker positions the previous two days, we now turn our attention to the setter position, where two 2024 veterans return in Elle Cotton and Lilli Etter.

The setter in volleyball is like the quarterback in football; the offense runs through that position. "What we need in a setter is someone who has control of the offensive side of the game when they're out on the court," said head coach Shawn Garus. "So you want them to give good direction to their teammates and make good decisions on the fly, so we can maximize our match-ups to score points. Preseason camp has been very good for both setters."
