After winning back-to-back Mountain West championships for the first time and reaching the College Football Playoff for the first time, Boise State's 2024 season came to a close with a 12-2 record, 7-0 conference record and 7-0 home record. 🔼 Making “Gaines.” As the squad is wheels up to Florida for the season opener tomorrow, Boise State running back Sire Gaines was named to the Shaun Alexander Freshman of the Year Watch List. The redshirt freshman is also featured on watch lists for the Comeback Player of the Year and Doak Walker Award.

Gaines appeared in three games last season, gaining 156 yards on 20 rushes and 44 yards on three receptions. Athlon Sports and Phil Steele tabbed him Preseason All-MW First Team.

🔼 Home Pitch Advantage. The Boise State soccer team will open the home schedule against Montana (August 28, 7 p.m. MT) and Cal State Bakersfield (August 31, 1 p.m.). The Broncos look to defend the MW regular season title. In 2024, the Broncos posted a conference record of 8-1-2 while winning 10 matches at home overall.

The women's team features 13 new student-athletes, including two distance runners who will compete in cross country. The men's team welcomes 19 newcomers, with four set to run cross country.

🔼 Some Local Love. Boise State Athletics has received a $1 million gift from locally-based Alturas. The donation has been designated for the North End Zone Project. It renews its membership in the Lyle Smith Society, a leadership group established to increase philanthropic support for Boise State Athletics. Alturas owns and operates a diversified group of businesses across various industries, including construction and real estate, throughout the Intermountain West, with its headquarters located in the Treasure Valley.

🔼 The Long Ball. Boise State head men's golf coach David Trainor announced the team's 2025-26 schedule.
 
Traveling to Pullman, Wash., the Broncos' fall campaign commences with the Palouse Collegiate (Sept. 9-10). Boise State will then participate in back-to-back invitationals in Colorado: the Gene Miranda Falcon Invitational (Sept. 20-22) and the Mark Simpson Colorado Invitational (Sept. 29-30).
 
For the third-consecutive year, Boise State will send two participants to the Genesis Collegiate Showcase on Feb. 16. Senior Cole Rueck has won the event in each of the last two years, earning an exemption to the 2024 Scottish Open and 2025 Barracuda Championship, respectively.
