🔼 From Chemo to the Course. Chase Gorder has golfed longer than he can remember. One of his earliest birthday gifts was a set of real clubs, upgrading from the plastic collection he used in the family kitchen. A natural athlete, Gorder played five sports throughout middle school. His goal was to play golf in college, so he dropped the other sports before his freshman year of high school. After a successful 2019 season, he continued practicing in February 2020 before falling ill. Symptoms of fever, cough and fatigue led doctors to believe he had pneumonia. In early March, Gorder and his parents were given the gut-wrenching news: Chase had Hodgkin’s lymphoma. The World Health Organization declared the COVID-19 outbreak a global pandemic, adding a terrifying factor to an already bleak situation.

🔼 Let’s Talk Impact. Boise State Athletics has a $135.7 million annual economic impact on student-athletes, taxpayers and the community in the Boise Auditorium District. The economic impact report, which showed a cumulative annual economic impact of $350 million, evaluated the athletics department's impact at three different levels: auditorium district, Treasure Valley and state of Idaho.

The economic impact report, which was produced by Lightcast in a Boise State Athletics-funded analysis, showcased how the athletic department influences both the lives of student-athletes and the regional economy on an annual basis. The report demonstrated how Boise State Athletics plays a key role in helping student-athletes increase their employability and achieve their individual potential as well as drawing visitors and student-athletes to the region.

🔼 Broncos Leap Past the Lopes. Boise State volleyball takes set four 25-15 as the Broncos race past the Lopes in the final two sets to win 3-1 in MW opener at Grand Canyon. They move to 9-3 overall.

🔼 Rice’s Right Hand Man. Boise State men's basketball has added Coby Karl to its coaching staff, head coach Leon Rice announced on Thursday.

"Given Coby's extensive coaching pedigree and lineage, we are incredibly excited to welcome him back home to Boise State," Rice said. "The knowledge and teaching he's gained from George Karl and Phil Jackson, who are legendary, Hall of Fame coaches, has served him well, and we are fortunate to add that wealth of knowledge to our team."

Performing the role of assistant to the head coach, Karl joins the Broncos with 10 years of coaching experience in the NBA and NBA G League. His role will heavily focus on player personnel and pro relations.

🔼 Fall Tennis … Just Go With It. Boise State women's tennis will open its 2025 fall season with the eighth annual Barb Chandler Classic at the Appleton Tennis Center, Sept. 26-28. Matches will begin each day at 9 a.m., with a second round immediately to follow on both Friday and Saturday. This is the Broncos' lone home tournament of the fall.
