Good Morning, Bronco Nation 1/31: A Fight Worth Fighting

In this week’s B:1 feature, we take a moment and introduce you to three former Bronco female student-athletes who are key pillars to the department’s success.

Good Morning, Bronco Nation! In this week’s B:1 feature, we take a moment and introduce you to three former Bronco female student-athletes who are key pillars to the department’s success: Sarah Asla: Student-Athlete Academic Advisor, Heather Berry: Senior Associate Athletic Director, Athletics Personnel Services and Athletics Chief of Staff and Katie Tuller Dores: Assistant Athletic Director, Athletic Personnel Services.

From Title IX to the signing of Proclamation 5606, which first introduced National Girls and Women in Sports Day, there have been significant steps taken in the fight for women’s rights and equity in the workplace. That fight, however, is ongoing, and these three Boise State employees play pivotal roles in helping those around them to succeed while elevating female voices.

📈 STOCK UP

🔼 Meet You at Home. The Broncos return to Boise to host their first home meet of the season tonight at 7 p.m. MT. The meet will include Utah State and Sacramento State in ExtraMile Arena.

Boise State is No. 23 in the RoadToNationals team bars rankings with an average score of 48.994, the highest in the MW. The Broncos are also No. 26 in the beam rankings, boasting a 48.850 average score. Squad member Emily Lopez ranks first among non-power 4 opponents and second in the west region in bars, trailing behind Olympic gold-medalist Jade Carey.

🤸🏽‍♀️ : SCOUTING REPORTS

🔼 The Competition is Knight and Day. Boise State sophomore Sophia Knight was selected the 2025 Mountain West Softball Preseason Player of the Year, Thursday. She was one of three Broncos named to the All-MW Preseason team, joined by senior outfielder Mykenzie Hanna and junior infielder Sydney Groves.

Last season, Knight became the first Bronco in school history to become a Freshman All-American when she received the honor from Softball America. The 2024 Mountain West Freshman of the Year ranked fifth nationally and led NCAA freshman with 85 hits.

🔼 Home Court Advantage. Boise State men’s tennis will open its home slate today with a doubleheader featuring Idaho State at noon and Eastern Washington at 4 p.m MT. These are the first two contests of a three-match homestand that will conclude with 16th-ranked Michigan State on Feb. 9.

The Broncos enter the match coming off a road split at the ITA Kickoff Weekend last week in Charlottesville, Virginia. The Broncos came up short against No. 5 Virginia 4-2 before regrouping to beat VCU 4-0. Following that victory, Jett Middleton was named the Mountain West Player of the Week.

🔼 Cloudy With a Chance of Rescheduling. Due to expected rain, the women's tennis match between Boise State and Santa Clara scheduled for Feb. 1 has been canceled. The team will return to action on Feb. 7, hosting a doubleheader at Boas Indoor Tennis Center against Linfield at 11 a.m. MT, and the College of Idaho at 5 p.m.

In the meantime, we can bask in the glory that is this powerful trio: 👇🏼

🔼 Now This is a Full-Court Press. The only thing better than winning is winning at home. Just ask the Broncos MBB and WBB teams.

🤔 BLUE TURF TRIVIA
