🔼 All Around Athlete. Boise State defensive end Ahmed Hassanein is one of 20 semifinalists for the Jason Witten Collegiate Man of the Year award. The award is presented annually to the FBS college football player who demonstrates a record of leadership by exhibiting exceptional courage, integrity and sportsmanship both on and off the field. Serving as a team captain, Hassanein has started all six games and has 6.5 sacks, ranking second in the MW and eighth in the FBS. In addition to his athletic and academic achievements, Hassanein serves on the leadership committee for BroncoBOLD, a mental health initiative driven by student-athletes.
🔼 Title Secured. Boise State women's tennis sophomore Zdena Safarova claimed her second consecutive singles title, capturing the ITA Mountain Region Championship. She won six straight matches against opponents from six different universities in her path to the title. Safarova, the first Bronco to win a regional championship since 2009, has qualified for the NCAA Individual Championships in November with the victory. She is the program's first qualifier in over a decade and just the fifth all-time.
🔼 Among The Best. Boise State quarterback Maddux Madsen has been added to the Davey O'Brien Award Midseason Watch List. The redshirt sophomore is one of 60 players eligible for the award, given to the nation's best quarterback. Through six games, Madsen has completed 102-of-160 passes for 1,273 yards and 12 touchdowns. He ranks first in the Mountain West and 29th in the nation with a passing efficiency of 152.8.
🔼 Fall Finale. The Boise State women's golf team closed the fall portion of the 2024-25 season with a historic performance at The Clash at Boulder Creek, breaking a pair of school records and notching several individual highlights. The Broncos finished with a team score of 846 (-18), the lowest in school history by eight strokes. The Blue and Orange also set the program record for lowest 36-hole score, firing a 566 (-10) in two rounds. Individually, Jillian Hui and Brooke Patterson led the Broncos, tying for ninth at 210 (-6), the second-lowest score in school history.
Boise State's Paige Bartsch leads the MW and is 23rd in NCAA for service aces with 35, while Bre Mitchell is right behind in second and 29th, respectively, with 34. The tandem continues to be a dominant 1-2 punch for the Blue and Orange.
