🔼 Championship Bound. Boise State women's soccer advanced to the Mountain West Championship final match following a 3-2 victory over San Diego State. Trailing 1-0 at the break, the Broncos scored three consecutive goals to take control of the match. Right out of halftime, Carly Cross slotted home the Broncos’ first goal. Morgan Padour took the lead for Boise State in the 69th minute while Asia Lawyer scored in the 75th minute to extend, and ultimately secure, the Broncos' lead.
Boise State will play Utah State on Saturday at 7 p.m. in an effort to win the conference tournament title. The winner will automatically advance to the NCAA tournament.
🔼 Opening Night Success. Boise State opened its season with a commanding 87-43 victory over Oakland at ExtraMile Arena in front of the largest crowd ever for a home opener in program history. The Broncos took control early, surging to a 48-18 lead by halftime and never looked back. O'Mar Stanley and Andrew Meadow led Boise State with 15 points. Meadow’s 15 points were a career-high as the sophomore was 6-of-10 from the field and 3-of-6 from beyond the arc.
🔼 Walk-On Phenom. Boise State kicker Jonah Dalmas was announced as a nominee for the Burlsworth Trophy, an award given to the most outstanding college football player who started their career as a walk-on. The fifth-year began his Boise State career with a two-week walk-on tryout and has since set the program and Mountain West records for points (478) and field goals (90).
🔼 Dynamic Duo. Boise State women’s tennis duo Maya Dutta and Zdena Safarova will compete in doubles at the ITA Conference Masters. After earning a spot in the tournament after going 3-0 and winning the inaugural Mountain West Fall Qualifiers, the Bronco duo is set to compete in a 32-team single-elimination doubles tournament spanning four days. So far this season, Dutta and Safarova are 9-4 in doubles, and most recently competed at the ITA Mountain Region Championships.
🔼 Home For The Weekend. The Boise State volleyball team, which ranks sixth in the MW, will be home for two big Mountain West contests this week. The Blue and Orange will host the Wyoming Cowgirls on Thursday at 6 p.m. and then host the Colorado State Rams at noon on Saturday. Thursday’s match will be the second meeting of the year between the two programs, with Wyoming winning the first 3-2 in Laramie, Wyoming, on Oct. 12. On the year, Boise State is led by senior Paige Bartsch, averaging 3.74 kills (4th MW).
