🔷 ONE BIG THING
Boise State men’s basketball started off the season strong with an 89-55 win over Vanguard to improve to 1-0 on the season.
🗣️ "We accomplished the mission, which was to go 1-0. Our focus was really on the defensive end, and despite not playing complimentary basketball necessarily, we scored 89 points and were very physical with going after the rebounds.” - head coach Leon Rice
Chibuzo Agbo led all Broncos in scoring with 19 points in the game, with three other Broncos, O’Mar Stanley, Cam Martin and RJ Keene, joining him in the double-digits. The win improved the Broncos to 10-4 in season openers under Leon Rice, and 9,501 members of Bronco Nation were there to witness the Blue and Orange’s opening win.
The team will quickly turnaround to host San Francisco on Nov. 12 at 2 p.m.
📈 STOCK UP
🔼 Race Week. It’s officially race week for the Boise State men’s and women’s cross country teams who advanced to the next round by finishing third and second at the Mountain West Championships, and both groups of runners will be heading to Sacramento, Calif., for NCAA Regionals on Friday, Nov. 10.
🔼 Civic Engagement. Boise State Athletics was able to celebrate Civic Engagement Day, a legislated day off for student-athletes not in their championship season to encourage them to actively get involved in their community by voting, community service and advocacy.
🔼 The Bundle. For only $20, Bronco Nation can see two Boise State programs in action this weekend. Catch the football game against New Mexico on Saturday at Albertsons Stadium, and then on Sunday, head to ExtraMile Arena to watch the men’s basketball team take on San Francisco.
🔼 What’s Next. After opening up the season with a win, Boise State women’s basketball will be back on the court next week to face off against Weber State and UC Riverside. The team is coming off a stout defensive performance in which the Broncos allowed just 35 points, the fifth-lowest total in program history.
🤔 BLUE TURF TRIVIA
High Scores. Boise State basketball is back, and there is nothing like cheering on the Broncos at ExtraMile Arena.
