🔷 ONE BIG THING

Facing last year’s national runner-up, Boise State men’s basketball held San Diego State to zero field goals for nearly six minutes to edge out the 67-66 win over the Aztecs. The victory marked the fifth win in the last six meetings between the two MW opponents.

🗣️ "We have tons of respect for San Diego State, they've earned it at the national level after last year. It all came down to the battle you saw and I'm proud of our guys for doing whatever it takes. Neither team was going to give the other the easy win, we had to go in and work for it." - head coach Leon Rice

O’Mar Stanley helped Boise State with a team-leading 17 points on 6-10 shooting on the night. Roddie Anderson III shined with 14 points and two assists while both Tyson Degenhart and Chibuzo Agbo finished the game with 11 points apiece. As of Saturday, Boise State is 4-2 in Quad 1 games and is 7-4 in Quad 1 & 2 games.

🔼 Milestone Victory. Boise State gymnastics team rallied in the final rotations to sweep its season-opening quad, scoring 195.800 to defeat San Jose State, Air Force, and West Chester for head coach Tina Bird’s 250th career victory. In 17 seasons at the helm of Bronco gymnastics, Bird’s career record improved to 250-108-1.

🗣️ "I am so thrilled to have earned my 250th career win with this incredible team, and I'm proud of our beam team tonight. They attacked the event with confidence and really showed what they're capable of.” - head coach Tina Bird

Senior Emily Lopez finished first on bars with a score of 9.950, tied for first on beam (9.925) and recorded season-best marks in both events. Emma Loyim matched her career-high score on beam after earning a 9.925 to tie for first in the event. As a team, the Broncos tallied a 49.325 on beam and 48.925 on vault for season-bests.

🔼 Saturday Night Rout. Bronco women’s basketball held Utah State to 15 points in the first half and never looked back as the team picked up its fourth-straight win, tying its longest win streak of the season. The Broncos’ 76-41 win was capitalized by a stretch in the second quarter where 26 consecutive points were scored — the largest run all season.

Dani Bayes netted a team-high 16 points, including a 4-of-8 performance from beyond the arc. The sophomore also added three rebounds and three assists. Senior Abby Muse matched her season-high with 15 points in the contest on a perfect 5-of-5 shooting performance from the 3-point line.

🔼 Season Sweeps. Boise State men's tennis opened its 2024 campaign by sweeping a doubleheader on Saturday, defeating Idaho State 6-1 in the afternoon, followed by a complete 7-0 sweep over Lewis-Clark State in the evening. After losing the double’s point in the first match against Idaho State, the Broncos went on to win 13 straight points. Both John Chin and James Van Herzeele finished the day 4-0 overall, while Chin went 2-0 in both singles and doubles matches.
