The win marked head coach Gordy Presnell’s 350th of his career which moved him into second place in conference history. Leading scorer Natalie Pasco finished with a team-high 13 points while Mya Hansen tallied 11 points that included a perfect night from the free throw line.

🗣️ "We want to compete with the top dogs in the conference and this was one of them. We have to stay consistent with our effort. We came together as a team and played a complete game, and we hadn't done that until now." – Gordy Presnell

📈 STOCK UP

🔼 Solid Start. Boise State softball kicked off the weekend at the Kajikawa Classic and came away with a 4-1 record to open the 2024 season. The Broncos started off hot with back-to-back wins over No. 20 Northwestern and St. Thomas before falling to Wisconsin in six innings. Following the loss, Boise State bounced back with a win over Arizona State on their home turf, and came back on Sunday to finish out the tournament with a 3-1 win over Grand Canyon.

Taylor Caudill served as the team’s ace in the hole, going a perfect 4-0 with a 0.33 ERA in 21 innings pitched. Sophia Knight led the way for the Broncos with a .632 batting average, .842 slugging percentage and 1.474 OPS. Sydney Groves hit a pair of home runs in key spots for the Blue and Orange while Mykenzie Hanna finished the weekend with a team-high four RBI.

🔼 Defending Home Court. Boise State men’s tennis improved to 5-3 on the season after defeating Cal Poly 6-1 and sweeping Eastern Washington 7-0. The wins improved the Broncos to 4-0 at home. The team did not drop a singles match during the doubleheader, winning all 12 contests, with eight coming in straight sets. James Van Herzeele went 4-0 on the day, winning both his singles and doubles matches, and Jan Lucca Marquardt was the only other Bronco to play two singles contests, winning both.

🔼 Rocket Man. Bronco track and field concluded the indoor season over the split weekend at the Husky Classic and the Don Kirby Invitational. Long-distance runner Ollie Newman’s performance was one of the Broncos’ best as he became only one of three student-athletes in program history to run a sub-four-minute mile. He garnered a fourth-place finish in the men's mile with a personal-best time of 3:59.79. On the women's side, Kaiya Robertson ran a personal best in the women's mile, placing 18th with a time of 4:39.77. She currently sits third on the program's all-time indoor list.

🔼 On To The Next. On the road facing Utah State, Bronco men’s basketball was unable to settle into a rhythm and fell 80-61 on Saturday. The loss moves Boise State into a tie for second in the Mountain West with Colorado State, New Mexico and San Diego State. Tyson Degenhart finished with a team-high 17 points and eight rebounds while Max Rice added 12 points and O’Mar Stanley tacked on 11 as the third and final player to score in the double-digits.

🔼 Broncos With Broomsticks. Boise State women’s tennis secured the victory over the College of Idaho with a 7-0 sweep. The Broncos took the early lead thanks to two 6-0 doubles victories, and from there, never looked back. In the six singles matches, the team only lost five sets with Ana Conde Vendrell, Nicole Discenza and Ryan Kershner all earning straight-set victories.
