Good morning! With January in the rearview, Boise State men’s basketball improved its road record during the first month of the year in style with an upset win over No. 19 New Mexico. The Broncos improved their NCAA-leading road win percentage over the past three seasons to an astounding .923 in January. The win also marked the team’s third of the season over a nationally ranked-opponent.

🔷 ONE BIG THING
Fresh off a Mountain West regular season title, Boise State softball placed three student-athletes on this year’s preseason all-conference team. Outfielders Mykenzie Hanna and Jordyn Hutchins received accolades alongside pitcher, Taylor Caudill. As a team, the Broncos were picked to finish second in the Mountain West behind San Diego State. Boise State garnered one first-place vote and 57 points while the Aztecs received eight first-place votes and 64 points. The Broncos will open its season on Feb. 9 against Northwestern in Tempe, Ariz., with the home opener scheduled for March 7 against Kennesaw State.

🔼 Big Test. Boise State women’s tennis is hitting the road to take on Washington. The Huskies came in at No. 21 in the most recent ITA rankings, marking today’s matchup as the highest-ranked opponent the Broncos have faced since 2015. Boise State comes into the matchup with a 1-1 record while Washington is undefeated with a 4-0 record. Last weekend, the double pairing of Pauline Ernstberger and Shauna Heffernan earned its 10th win of the season over Idaho State. The duo is nearing 30 career doubles wins and carries a 70% win percentage.
🔼 All Around Student-Athletes. Three Boise State cross country athletes earned 2023 U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) DI All-Academic honors. Joe Hudson, Julia Kiesler and Tom Patrick garnered individual USTFCCCA All-Academic Athlete honors after finishing with a cumulative GPA of at least 3.25 on a 4.0 scale and finishing in the top 25 at the NCAA Regional Championships or as an All-American at the NCAA Championships.
