Good Morning Bronco Nation 2/7: Something Special

Today, a men’s basketball recap and Blackson earns second weekly honor

Good morning! Did you know that Boise State football is one of four programs, and the only school from a non-Power Five conference, to have averaged 10 or more wins over the past 25 years.

🔷 ONE BIG THING

Senior Courtney Blackson was tabbed the Mountain West Floor Specialist of the Week for the second time this season following her performance in the Broncos' home victory against No. 19 Iowa State. The honor is her 11th weekly conference award and the fifth time she has received the accolade for floor. Blackson tied the school record with a 9.950 on floor, finishing first in the Blue and Orange's win. Her score marked the 26th time a Bronco has scored a 9.950, giving Blackson the share of the school record in vault and floor.

📈 STOCK UP

🔼 Battle With The Rams. Boise State pulled the team within six points late in the game, but Colorado State was able to hold on in the Broncos’ 75-62 loss. The loss marked Boise State's first on the road in Mountain West play this season — the last team to lose on the road in conference play. Tyson Degenhart finished with a team-high 25 points for his seventh 20-point game of the season while Max Rice finished as the only other Bronco in double-digits with 11 points. Boise State will conclude its two-game road stint at Utah State on Saturday.

🔼 National Stage. Max Rice was named as one of five recipients of the Oscar Robertson Trophy Player of the Week. The national recognition came following his performance in Albuquerque, N.M., where Rice put up a career-high 35 points en route to Boise State’s win over No. 19 New Mexico. The Boise, Idaho, native became only the second player since 2010-11 to have 30+ points in a road win against a ranked opponent, and the first since Derrick Marks did so during the 2012-13 season.

🔼  New On Staff. Boise State Athletics and Jeramiah Dickey announced that Bryan Beals was named the associate athletic director for development. Beals had been managing the department since August 2023 when he was named interim associate athletic director. Beals will oversee the major gift fundraising team for the athletic department as well as serve as a senior development director for Boise State University Advancement.

🗣️ "Bryan will continue to play an integral role in leading our major gifts team and as a member of our athletics senior staff. As we look forward to what's next, philanthropy through the Lyle Smith Society will continue to drive critical athletics initiatives, such as scholarships, facility enhancements, and student-athlete programming." - AD Jeramiah Dickey
