🔷 ONE BIG THING

For the first time this year, two Broncos were selected for the Ford Boise State Student-Athlete of the Week award. Beach volleyball’s Marlayna Bullington and Sierra Land were honored as this week’s winners following their 4-0 performance last weekend at the Pepperdine Classic. The duo has helped lead the Broncos to a 7-3 record, matching the program record for the best start in school history. This weekend, the duo, alongside the rest of the team, will compete in Manoa, Hawaii at the Queen’s Cup.

🔼 Adds Title. Boise State head football coach Spencer Danielson announced his decision to add the title of passing game coordinator to wide receivers coach Matt Miller beginning this upcoming season. Boise State’s receiving unit averaged 14.34 yards per reception in 2023, a mark that led the Mountain West and ranked ninth in FBS among teams with over 100 receptions. Miller returned to the Treasure Valley in 2020 following four seasons at Montana State where he was initially wide receivers coach before being promoted to offensive coordinator midway through the 2018 season. He was also the Bobcats' recruiting coordinator from 2017 until his promotion. Under his direction, the Bobcats reached the FCS Playoffs in 2018 and 2019.

🔼 Final Showdown. Boise State men’s basketball will tip off against San Diego State on the road on Friday for its last regular season game of the season. A win against the Aztecs, coupled with a Utah State loss on Saturday, would give Boise State a share of the conference championship alongside the Aggies and the winner of Nevada-UNLV. The Broncos have won five of the last six meetings against San Diego State. The series has been one of the tightest-contested in recent memory, as three of the wins came by a single point and all five by single-digit margins.

🔼 Going With The Flow. Following the cancellation of the Blue Collar Classic due to weather and field conditions, Boise State softball will move its games to Orem, Utah to face off against Weber State and Utah Valley in a pair of matchups over the weekend. The Broncos enter at 11-10 on the season before playing in the team’s final 25-game road stretch to open the season. Boise State currently ranks 43rd in the NCAA RPI with six come-from-behind victories this season. Senior right-hander Taylor Caudill has 56 strikeouts while freshman Sophia Knight began the season with a 14-game hitting streak to become the first Bronco in school history to hit safely in her first 14 collegiate games.

🔼 Setting Up For Success. Boise State women’s golf started the Pizza Hut-Lady Thunderbird Invitational atop the leaderboard through day one. The Broncos finished 13-over par as a team for the day with Elli Gordon leading the way in third place with her 1-over-par round. Franca Polla and Hannah Lim each finished the first round in the top 10 with Polla’s 2-over par round and Lim’s 3-over par finish. The Blue and Orange will head into day two with a two-shot lead over Utah Valley.

🔼 New GM. Brandon Jones, who spent the past five years at Vanderbilt, joins the Broncos as the program's General Manager. In his role, he will help oversee roster development and will play an integral role in recruiting and scouting. He spent the past three seasons as the Director of Scouting at Vanderbilt and was responsible for evaluating high school and college evaluations nationwide, developing prioritized prospect watch lists and organizing prospect camps.
