🔷 ONE BIG THING
Bronco Nation, join us in welcoming the newest addition to the Boise State men’s basketball team: Alvaro Cardenas. Cardenas, a native of Granada, Spain, joins the program as a transfer from San Jose State with one year of eligibility remaining, and was one of the top-rated point guards in the transfer portal, according to On3.
Last season, Cardenas made 30 appearances as a team captain, averaging 13.1 points per game on 45.7% shooting from the field and 38.5% from beyond the arc. He also averaged 5.7 assists per game, and his 2.7 assist-to-turnover ratio ranked third in the Mountain West.
📈 STOCK UP
🔼 Keep It Going. After a couple of stellar midweek matches that helped Boise State beach volleyball achieve multiple program records, the Broncos will play in the last matches of the regular season at the Alki Beach Invitational, in Seattle Wash. The Blue and Orange will face two ranked opponents, No. 15 Georgia State and No. 11 Washington, as well as Oregon, who the team has already beaten twice this year.
🔼 Coming Up. Boise State men’s tennis closes out its home schedule when the Broncos host Mountain West rivals UNLV at 5 p.m. on Friday and Nevada at 11 a.m. on Sunday. The 57th-ranked Broncos are coming off a 4-3 road loss last week at then-No. 71 Utah State. Boise State enters this week at 13-10 overall and 1-1 in MW play.
🔼 Going The Distance. Day one at the Bryan Clay Invitational finished with a pair of Boise State distance runners securing second-place finishes. Austen Apperson finished as the runner-up in the men’s 3000m steeplechase with a time of 9:07.60 while Emily Jobes raced a new personal record to finish second with a time of 10:23.35.
🔼 Road Runners. Boise State will hit the road for a match against Fresno State on Friday, and will then travel to Reno, Nev., for a dual against Nevada on Sunday. Ariadna Briones Ginesta has 14 singles wins this season and could reach the 15-win mark this weekend. She is currently on a three-match win streak in singles and has a win percentage of 51.9%.
