🔷 ONE TWO BIG THINGS

Both Boise State tennis programs rolled into their conference tournaments with a trio of All-Mountain West honorees.

On the men’s team, Sam Sippel received All-MW accolades in both singles and doubles, Jan Lucca Marquardt earned doubles recognition and Jip van Assendelft received honors in singles. Sippel spent most of the season nationally ranked in singles and doubles and is now a three-time All-MW honoree.

For the women’s team, Pauline Ernstberger earned All-MW singles honors while Nicole Discenza and Lorelyz Marrufflo were named to the All-MW doubles team. Ernstberger was named an All-MW Singles player for the fourth consecutive season.

📈 STOCK UP

🔼 Off and Running. The defending Mountain West tournament champions opened their title defense with a 4-0 sweep over Air Force. The Broncos started by earning the doubles point with a pair of dominating wins followed by back-to-back-to-back straight-set singles wins from Idriss Haddouch, Jan Lucca Marquardt and John Chin to clinch the match. Boise State now moves into the seventh all-time MW Championship semifinal round, where the Broncos are 6-0, to face New Mexico.

🗣️ “…we found a way to get through. Air Force always comes out and plays hard, so getting through this match is good. We are going to have to be willing to play ugly and scrappy tennis this week to get the job done." - Luke Shields, head coach

🔼 Hard Fought. Boise State women’s tennis secured the doubles point to start the match, but eventually fell 4-3 to San Jose State in the first round of the Mountain West Championships. Joana Baptista and Nicole Discenza each secured singles points with straight-set wins.

🤔 BLUE TURF TRIVIA

Career Sweep. Boise State women’s tennis senior Pauline Ernstberger received All-MW honors for the fourth time in as many seasons with the Broncos.
