9 days until kickoff, Bronco Nation!

The 2009 Boise State football season was arguably one of the greatest in program history. Starting the season No. 14 in the country, the Broncos blew opponents out of the water, scoring 40+ points in 10 of 14 games. After securing the seventh WAC title in eight seasons, the Broncos avenged the previous season’s loss to TCU with a win over the Horned Frogs in the Fiesta Bowl, finishing the season at No. 4 in the rankings. Boise State became the second team in FBS history to finish 14-0.

🔼 The Setters. With one week left before the start of the season, it’s time to preview the 2024 Bronco volleyball team. Today, we start with the setter position, where Boise State has three candidates vying for the starting role.

🏐 The lone returner with collegiate experience at the position is junior Elle Cotton. She’s played in 42 matches and 127 sets during her previous two campaigns with the Broncos. In her career, she has recorded 300 assists for a 2.26 per set average, 33 service aces, 85 digs, and nine blocks.

🏐 Joining Cotton at the setter position is a pair of freshmen, Lilli Etter from Gonzaga Prep in Spokane, Wash., and Kiki Remensperger from Poway High School in the San Diego metro area. Each were four-year starters and collected a multitude of district and conference accolades.

🔼 Not Sorry. The Reese's Senior Bowl announced its 2025 watchlist which features four Boise State Broncos. Offensive linemen Kage Casey and Mason Randolph were recognized, as were running back Ashton Jeanty and defensive end Ahmed Hassanein. The 2025 Reese's Senior Bowl will be played in Mobile, Alabama, on Feb. 1. Players selected for the game will have an opportunity to showcase their talent and connect with coaches and decision-makers from all 32 NFL teams.

🔼 What’s Next. Boise State soccer returns to the pitch with a home match against Idaho State on Friday, Aug. 23 at 7 p.m. The Broncos enter the matchup with a 1-0 record following the team’s win over Portland State in the season-opener. The Bengals enter Friday’s match with a 1-0-1 record, but the Broncos lead the all-time series 12-8-2 and have won the past four matchups.

🔼 Tack On Another. Boise State junior Ashton Jeanty was featured on the watch list for the Earl Campbell Tyler Rose Award. Last season, the running back was one of five national finalists for the award, which is presented to the top offensive player who graduated from a Texas high school or currently plays at an FBS program in Texas. A graduate of Lone Star High School in Frisco, Texas, the Heisman hopeful will look to add this award to the list of accolades after becoming the first player since 2016 with 1,000 rushing yards and 500 receiving yards in a 10-game span.
