Good Morning Bronco Nation 9/14: Jump Back In

Today, a look at how Boise State is supporting a campus-wide initiative

Good morning! Today is a big sports day for Bronco Nation as three programs are competing in three different events happening both on campus, and across the U.S.

🎾 So It Begins
📈 Raising Awareness
🔷 And much, much more!

📈 STOCK UP

🔼 So It Begins. Opening up their fall season this weekend will be Boise State men’s tennis as they come off their MW Tournament Championship.

The Broncos will face off in the Der Walters Invite to jump right in the season with six schools represented. Head coach Luke Shields returns for his second year at the helm, while three newcomers, Jip van Assendelft, Liam Toroman and Kyvan Rietkerk, will suit up in the Blue and Orange for the first time in their collegiate careers.

🔼 Home Streak. The Broncos have quite the home court advantage when it comes to the men’s basketball team. Currently, Boise State holds a 14-game win streak when playing at ExtraMile Arena. It’s safe to say that this year, it’s only going to get noisier in Boise.

🔼 Raising Awareness. In partnership with BroncoBOLD, a student-athlete led mental health initiative, Boise State Athletics is recognizing Suicide Prevention Week from now through September 16th. They will be supporting a variety of events on campus, and athletics programs will wear shirts during warm-ups to raise awareness with purple and teal ribbons.

🔼 The People’s Music. Every good team needs some good music to get their minds right for a big game, but this time, the team needs you to pick the music. This Saturday, Boise State will play the song the fans vote on for the Broncos’ game against North Dakota.

Being a student-athlete is one of many aspirations all kids have when growing up and playing sports. Diversifying those sports though can be key in developing multiple skills and interests en route to a collegiate sporting career.

🔷 ONE BIG THING

Following her MW Offensive Player of the Week award for her hat trick performance, Carly Cross has been awarded the Ford Boise State Student-Athlete of the Week.

The junior forward on Boise State soccer helped led the Broncos to a 4-3 win over Washington State last week in her first-ever game with a hat trick. Today, Cross, and the rest of Bronco soccer, will face off against Oregon for the team’s last non-conference game of the season.
