Good Morning Bronco Nation 3/21: Turning the Page

Today, Bronco MBB looks to next season after losing a hard-fought battle in the First Four

Good morning! Colorado closed the door on the Boise State men’s basketball season as the Broncos were defeated, 60-53, by the Buffaloes in the First Four of the 2024 NCAA Tournament. Boise State (22-11) took a 49-45 lead on a stepback jumper with 4:31 to play, but Colorado (25-10) scored the next 11 points to grab the win.

"These guys battled and battled even when the shots weren't dropping," said head coach Leon Rice. "We competed on the glass and battled defensively. They made some big plays down the stretch that created just enough of a gap."

🔷 ONE BIG THING

Broncos Bleed Blue. Boise State Athletics announced a campaign to sell 20,000 season tickets for the 2024 season. Spencer Danielson begins his first full season as head coach, and the Broncos look to repeat as MW Champions. Bronco Nation has already transformed Albertsons Stadium into one of the most intimidating places for opposing teams. Last season, they were the only MW team to force double-digit numbers.

📈 STOCK UP

🔼 Sun Sets on the Season. Boise State women's basketball fell victim to the high-octane from Montana, falling 92-66 in the first round of the Women's National Invitational Tournament Wednesday.

Natalie Pasco and Mya Hansen led the Broncos (21-14, 10-8 Mountain West) from the floor. Pasco netted a game-high 21 points, while Hansen recorded 20 points, six rebounds, and five assists.

🔼 Sydney’s Spectacular Streak. Boise State sophomore Sydney Groves was named the Boise State Ford Student-Athlete of the Week on Wednesday. Leading the Broncos to a 5-0 record batting .333 with five home runs, 16 RBI, and a 1.117 slugging percentage, it’s no wonder she was also named Mountain West Player of the Week and D1Softball National Player of the Week earlier this week.

🔼 Everything’s Coming Up Tennis. The Broncos are hosting the Boise State Spring Fling tournament tomorrow and Saturday at the Eagle Tennis Club in Eagle, Idaho. The Broncos are coming off a solid performance last Friday when they defeated the Big Ten Conference’s Purdue Boilermakers 6-1 in Boise. For a complete schedule, visit the tournament central page at Boise State Spring Fling.

🔼 Blip on the Bronco Radar. Utah's Mariah Lopez held Boise State's offense to one hit, and the Broncos were blanked 4-0 on Wednesday. The loss ended the Broncos' season-high nine-game winning streak (20-11).

"Our pitching staff did everything it could to keep us in the game," head coach Justin Shults said. "Our offense did not do enough to support the performance in the circle."
